The Trig
Scroll down for photos and a description of the walk....
Blacko Tower
It's been a long wait. The sun went behind the clouds late in 2010 and has now come back out again. The weekend just gone (15th/16th) was a complete washout and the first time, since I started this website, that I can remember no walk at the weekend due to the weather. On the way in, I took this photo of Stansfield Tower, aka Blacko Tower.
Pendle Hill
It might look a bit gloomy, but it's not and there was plenty of sunshine to follow.
On the short route in from the road, there is this lane with conifers on the right, lit up by the afternoon sun.
The Steps
I'm not on my own this afternoon.
Barley
The sunlit bump in front of Lower Ogden Reservoir is known as Barley Hill and there are footpaths on both flanks, neither of which I've enjoyed, but will do soon, hopefully. Earlier, I suggested it was inaccessible, Bob (below) put me right.
The Top
More ashes, please put them somewhere less public. I cannot even take a photo of the trig without someone's remains getting in the frame.
Black Moss Reservoirs
Pendle's shadow cutting across the landscape.
Rockslip
On the east-facing side of Pendle Hill is apparent evidence of a rockslip (landslip). It's an ancient feature but worth a closer look. There's the edge of the shadow again.
Pendle on 28th Nov 2010
What do you think? It looks as though something happened many years ago.
